Crowds flood Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach to rally for ‘No Kings Day,’ turning the iconic route into a sea of protest and passion
Thousands of demonstrators carrying signs and waving American flags lined both sides of Pacific Coast Highway near Jamboree Road in Newport Beach on Saturday afternoon, joining the second nationwide “No Kings Day” protest. The event, organized by groups critical of the Trump administration, drew crowds across the country. Since the inaugural protest on June 14, the White House has intensified immigration enforcement, launched legal battles against universities and media organizations, and pursued prosecutions targeting individuals viewed as adversaries by the president.

Perched atop a large boulder, California gubernatorial candidate and former U.S. Representative Katie Porter (D) spoke to the energized crowd gathered in Newport Beach.
"I'm proud of everyone here for standing up for American values," she told the demonstrators.
Organizers of the No Kings movement emphasize a strong commitment to peaceful protest, encouraging participants to respond to potential confrontations with calm and restraint.
While Saturday’s rally along Pacific Coast Highway remained nonviolent, the steady roar of honking horns echoed through the area, a constant soundtrack to the demonstration.

A handful of drivers grew visibly frustrated as the usual traffic merging from Jamboree onto Pacific Coast Highway was slowed by a crossing guard helping demonstrators reach the center median. Some motorists shouted obscenities as they drove past the crowd.
Saturday’s event was part of a broader national movement, with approximately 2,700 “No Kings Day” protests planned across the country under the slogan: “No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.”
