Pumpkins, Princesses, and a Tiny Trump Highlight White House Halloween Festivities

Dozens of Costumed Kids — and a Mini Trump — Join President and First Lady at the White House’s 67th Annual Halloween Celebration

On Thursday evening, President Trump placed a candy bar on the head of a young trick-or-treater during a Halloween event on the White House’s South Lawn, echoing a viral moment from his first administration.

In 2019, he had done the same to a child dressed as a Minion from the “Despicable Me” films. This year, the recipient was a child wearing a DJ Marshmello costume.

“@POTUS strikes again!” the White House Rapid Response team joked in a post on X.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump spent the evening handing out candy to guests that included foster and adoptive families, military members, law enforcement officers, and administration staff.

Among those in attendance were White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, whose one-year-old son came dressed as a pumpkin, and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, whose wife arrived in a skeleton costume.

Children were treated to full-size Hershey’s chocolate bars and Twizzlers, packaged in festive Halloween boxes adorned with the presidential seal and the signatures of the president and first lady, according to the White House.

Pumpkins decorating the South Portico were supplied by Frey Farms and will be donated to DC Central Kitchen, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting hunger in Washington, D.C. The first lady’s office noted that Frey Farms has supported the White House Halloween celebration for 13 consecutive administrations.

“Frey Farms is honored to keep partnering with the White House to celebrate America’s harvest and the hardworking farmers behind it,” CEO Sarah Frey said in a statement.

“Our pumpkins symbolize the resilience of American agriculture and the value of fresh, locally grown food,” she added. “We’re proud to uphold this tradition and help support local food programs through DC Central Kitchen.”
