Apple TV+ Experiences Major Outage During ‘Pluribus’ Premiere Launch
Apple Inc.’s streaming platform experienced a brief outage for some viewers on Thursday night, just as excitement peaked around the premiere of Pluribus, the much-hyped new series from the creator of Breaking Bad.
Reports of disruptions began around 10:30 p.m. ET across the US and Canada, with nearly 13,000 users logging issues on Downdetector. Apple later confirmed the problem on its system status page and resolved the disruption within about 90 minutes.
The timing was unfortunate for Apple, which has heavily promoted Pluribus as one of its marquee Apple TV+ releases. The issue also temporarily affected Apple Music and Apple Arcade, according to the company’s website.
The outage comes as Apple continues to lean on its services business — which hit a record $28.8 billion in revenue during the September quarter — to fuel growth amid fierce competition from streaming giants like Netflix, Disney’s Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video.
